How it works
You stay the marker. Marking Assist writes the feedback you would write, from your grade, your notes and your rubric, and you sign it off.
- Before marking
Step 1: Set up the assignment
Add the brief and rubric, and if you like a graded example and examples of your own feedback. Choose one of five feedback styles made from them, and edit it to sound like you.
Upload the scripts: PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, images or text. Each is shown as the pages the student made, with a permanent script number and, if you use them, a Student ID.
- Your judgement
Step 2: You mark
Each script opens beside your marking panel: give the grade (or a band) and jot your judgements. Your comment bank, with about 300 starter comments by criterion and grade band, is one key away. Nothing is drafted until you have marked.
- The AI's draft
Step 3: It drafts
Google’s Gemini writes feedback that explains your grade, from your notes, in your style and against your rubric, usually in 20 to 40 seconds. A private note tells you anything worth checking. You can move to the next script while it writes.
- Signed off by you
Step 4: You finalise
Edit the feedback in place, compare it with the draft, ask for a second draft with a note if you want one, and finalise. That signs it off in your name and deletes the student’s file. Export the marks for your university’s system.
How much time it saves
That depends on how long you spend writing feedback now, so we do not quote a figure. Put your own numbers into the calculator on the homepage: the reading stays the same; the writing is what changes.
